Nugget #36

Let My People Go
Praise the Lord, Grace & Peace great people of our “Great God”…JESUS!
As I observe how the children of God in this 21st century do not seem to walk in the liberty wherewith they have been called, I began to read about the Exodus encountered by Israel through the power of God! But in order for God to have fellowship with a people called by His Name, they had to be totally separated from its environment. For this Golden Nugget I would like to provoke the thought “Let My People Go” My premise scriptures to provoke further gospel provocation are as follows:
Exo. 5:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
Exo. 7:16 And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Exo. 8:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Joh. 11:43-44 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
As I was reading this liberating experience for the children of Israel, I noticed that the command given by God “Let My People Go” was mentioned 9 times in the book of Exodus! Wow, what amazing depths of truth that are contained in this command. The force in which it was rendered conveyed that God wanted Israel completely delivered to be separated unto Him; so that they could feast with Him in the wilderness. In order for this to happen it would require their entire emancipation from Egypt, a land of death and darkness. Hence, He would not only free them from Egypt’s brick kilns and task-masters, but also from Egypt’s temples and altars of false worship. This is why it required a thorough separation out of this environment, in order for Israel to hold a feast to God in the wilderness.
My brothers and sisters, just as it was with Israel, so it is with us today! We, too, must be a fully conscious delivered people, so that we can properly serve, worship, and walk with God. We must not only remain cognizant that our sins have been forgiven, but truly continue to embrace our entire freedom from guilt, wrath, judgment, and condemnation; hence appreciating our complete deliverance from this present evil world and its tangibles, so that we can intelligently serve the Lord. The world is to the Child of Jesus Christ, what Egypt (a type of the world) was to Israel; but our separation from this world of course is not local or physical, but spiritual and virtuous. Israel left Egypt in person; we leave the world by faith in spirit and truth. Israel left Egypt in the facts presented by Moses given by God; we leave the world by grace through faith. It was a real, out and out, thorough separation for them, and it is the same for us. “Let My People Go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.” GOLDEN NUGGET!
Saints, please know that because the Lord required this rigid separation, Satan had and still has many objections. Please note Satan’s first objection as spoken by the lips of Pharaoh, “Go ye, and sacrifice to your God in the land.” These were subtle words, because they were well calculated to ensnare the heart that was not in communion with the mind of God. For Satan basically was offering to Moses a particular peculiar mode of worship. He was offering him a religion on a public platform, so that he could carry on like other people who did not know the true God; with the inference that there is plenty of room for all of us! Hence; there is no need for separation, just take the common ground with your neighbors.
In Pharaohs sight this seemed very reasonable. But in God’s sight it could never meet His high and holy standard! Hence, He required that they hearken to His clear and non compromising directive, “Let My People Go!” This declaration could not be mistaken, and because of it, it was impossible for Israel to remain in Egypt.
Saints, when God tells Satan to, “Let My People Go,” then we must go; in spite of all the opposing powers on earth and in hell, whether opposed by men or devils. There is no use in reasoning, disputing, or discussing any other option, it must be obeyed.
When we contemplate on this directive, we must always be cognizant of “Who is it to fix the boundaries of a Child of God faith? Is it man or God, human dogma or divine revelation?” In order to answer this question, we must first evaluate the narrow mindedness of those who approach this philosophically; for these are non spiritual individuals, whom embrace dogma, human reasoning, and selfish interest. I unhesitatingly recognize as narrow mindedness.
Contra wise, those who maintain the beautiful mind of Christ, and strive to subject to His authority; reverently submit to the instructions documented in the Holy Scriptures! Hence, they refuse to go against the scriptures, fervently rejecting anything that is not based upon “Thus says the Lord!” When this position is taken, there is no narrow mindedness, but a perpetual broad, and elevated mindset in Jesus Christ! GOLDEN NUGGET!
My brothers and my sisters it is the Word of God that expresses the mind of God! Which always exposes the full mind and ways of mankind. Is there not infinitely greater breadth in the Holy Scriptures than in all the human writings under the sun? Hence; our focus must be as narrow as Christ, and as broad as Christ.”
There was something profound in Mose’s reply to Satan’s first objection, Ex. 8:26 “It is not meet so to do: for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us? We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the Lord our God, as He shall command us.”
This would have been abominable to present to God a sacrifice in the borders of Egypt! Please understand that Egypt was not the place to erect an altar to the only true God. Also remember that Abraham never built an altar when he went down to Egypt during the famine. While he was there he abandoned his worship and his pilgrimage journey in the wilderness! And if Abraham was not permitted to worship there, neither could his seed. An Egyptian might ask, why? But it is one thing to ask a question, and another thing to understand the answer. How could the Egyptian mind enter into the mindset of a true Israelites required conduct? It was Impossible! How could such a one know the meaning of a “three days” journey? absolutely nothing! How can a sinner understand why the CHURCH must come out from among the world and be separated, absolutely nothing! It is not until they experience the liberating power through the Holy Spirit can they know! GOLDEN NUGGET!
The word states in 1 Jn. 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Please know that the motives which actuate, and the objects which animate the true believers, lie far beyond the world’s range of vision!
I speak, of course, concerning the proper Child of God motives. There is no doubt, that there is much in a real Child of God life that the world should admire and value. i.e., integrity, honesty, truthfulness, kindness, care for the poor, self-denial; for all these things can be admired and appreciated; but, even in all this, we have to remember what the Apostle John stated that “The world knows us not;” and if we want to walk with God, and hold a feast to Him, we must maintain an earnest desire to walk a consistent heavenly course. We must continue to break with the world’s ideologies and our hindering flesh altogether.
Satan has many wiles, so we read that there was a second objection! If he could not succeed in keeping Israel in Egypt, he tried to keep them as near to it as possible. Notice the option presented in Ex. 8:28 “I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away.”
There is more damage done for the cause of Jesus Christ by a person who is partial, and half hearted in giving up the world, than those who remain in it altogether. I reiterate, wavering, undecided, and half hearted professors of Christ, injure the testimony of the Lord more than those who are still in the world. Hence, I elaborate, there is a very large delta between giving up certain worldly things, and giving up the world itself! A person may lay aside certain forms of worldliness, and still retain the world deep down in their heart. We may have a form of godliness, yet cling to the world at the same time. 2 Ti. 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away!
This must be dealt with. I’m persuaded that what multitudes of so called professing Christians need to do, is to make a clean break with the world! It is utterly impossible to make the proper start, and much less to make any progress, while a person’s heart is perpetrating the role, and yet remain very defiant concerning walking in the holy requirements that are deemed necessary in Jesus Christ. Based on my observation, there are thousands of cases, where souls complain of doubts and fears, ups and downs, darkness and heaviness; and a lack of assurance and comfort in light, liberty, joy, peace, and a non vivid realization of Jesus Christ! This is because they have not really broken from the world. They either seek to hold a feast to the Lord in Egypt, (the world) or they remain so close to Egypt, only to be easily drawn back to it again! They continue to remain so close, that they never receive a real identity in anything! GOLDEN NUGGET!
How can people in this position be happy? How can their peace flow like a river? How can they possibly walk in the light of Christ’s countenance, or in the joy of His presence? How can the blessed beams of the Son of Glory shine through the Spiritual man, to reach beyond the murky atmosphere that envelops this land of death and darkness? It is impossible! They must break with the world, and make a clear, decisive, and whole-hearted surrender to Christ.
Here lies the grand secret of any Child of God progress. We must make the proper start before we can ever get to our next destination; and in order to make that proper start we must perpetually break our links with the ideologies of this world, knowing that God has broken them for us in the death and resurrection our Lord Jesus Christ. The cross has separated us forever from this present evil world. It has not merely delivered us from the eternal consequences of our sins, but from the present power of sin, and from its principles, maxims, and fashions of a world that lies in the hands of the wicked one, Satan.
Please be assured my brothers and sisters that it is one of Satan’s masterpieces to lead so called professing Christians to be satisfied with looking to the cross for salvation while remaining in the world, basically occupying a border position…”not going very far away.” This has proven to be a terrible snare, against the Child of God. What is the remedy? To make a true hearted devotion to maintain fellowship with a rejected and glorified Christ.
My question to you is this. Is this walk and fellowship with Christ merely a stripping, an emptying, a giving up? Does it only consist of prohibition and negation? My answer, with blissful emphasis, No! A thousand times, No! This walk in Christ Jesus is preeminently positive, intensely real, and divinely satisfying. What does it give us in lieu of what it takes from us? To me it gives us “unsearchable riches” in place of “dung and dross.” It gives us “an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled and unfading reserved in heaven,” instead of a poor passing bubble on the stream of time. It gives us Christ, who is the heart of God, the object of Heaven’s worship, the theme of the angel’s song, the eternal sunlight of the new creation, in place of a few moments of sinful gratification and sinful pleasure. Most of all, it gives us an eternity of ineffable bliss and glory in the Father’s house above, instead of an eternity of awful flames in the Lake of Fire. GOLDEN NUGGET!
This is what is needed in this day of easy going profession, worldly religiosity, self-seeking, and man pleasing. We want to make Christ our only standpoint, while looking at self, the world, and the so called Church, from Christ’s standpoint; regardless of consequences. Then we can understand the force behind the depth, beauty, and fullness of the words, “Let My People Go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.”
Please note the way Satan disputes every inch of ground in the grand question of Israel’s deliverance from the land of Egypt. He would allow them to worship in the land of Egypt, or near the land; but their absolute and complete deliverance from the land is what he obstinately resisted.
But Jesus, blessed be His eternal name, is far above this great adversary, and He will have His people fully delivered, His divine standard can never be lowered; “Let My People Go, that theymay hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.” This is the Lord’s demand, and it must be made good, even though the enemy were to offer ten thousand objections. The Lord’s divine glory was intimately involved in the entire separation of Israel from Egypt, and from all the people that were upon the face of the earth. “The people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.” To this the adversary demurs; and to hinder it he puts forth all his malignant power, and all his crafty schemes.
Hence, Satan presents his third objectionin Ex. 10:8-11 And Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh: and he said to them, Go, serve the Lord your God: but who are they that shall go? And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds we will go; for we must hold a feast to the Lord. And he said to them, Let the Lord be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you. Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.”
Wow, these words contain a very solemn lesson for any Child of God who is a parent. This revealed the deep and crafty purpose of the arch enemy. If Satan cannot keep the parents in Egypt, he will at least seek to keep the children, and by doing this mar the testimony of absolute truth only found in God; to tarnish His glory in His people, and hinder their blessings in Him. Parents in the wilderness, and their children in Egypt!
Our children are part of ourselves. God’s creative hand has made them such; and, surely, what the Creator has joined together, the Redeemer would not put asunder. Satan wants our seed! This is why we have to keep fervently praying for our children. Pro. 22:3-6 “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”We have to do our part, and leave the rest to Jesus to intercede! GOLDEN NUGGET!
You may ask what does Train Up mean, or how is it to be executed. One thing is certain, namely, that Christian training means a great deal more than drilling religion into our children, making the Bible a task book, teaching our children to repeat texts and hymns like a parrot, and turning the family circle into a school. Don’t get me wrong, it is very good to help our children commit to memory various scriptures and sweet hymns. For I would never call this into question. But from my observation this can bring weariness to the child, and cause the Bible to be a repulsive school book! Hence there has to be balance relevant for the times we live in.
What is really needed is to surround our children with a thoroughly Christian atmosphere to the best of our ability of where we are in Christ Jesus in the earliest moments of their life; so that they can see in their parents the genuine fruits of a spiritual life that renders love, peace, purity, tenderness, genuine kindness, unselfishness, and loving thoughtfulness of others. These things have a mighty moral influence upon the frail mind of a child, (I know it did as I observed my mother) and the Spirit of God will assuredly use them in drawing their heart to Christ. Mind you, by no means have I been perfect as a parent, I had to learn as I progressed in Christ, in order to possess the aforementioned fruits!
I have observed so many Saints, through an utterly false application of the Doctrine of Grace, allow their children to grow up around them in willfulness and worldliness, and while doing so, they have comforted themselves with the thought that they could do nothing, and that in God’s time their children would, if included in His eternal purpose, will be gathered in. They have virtually lost sight of the grand practical truth that the One (Christ) who has decreed the end has fixed the means of reaching it, and that it is foolish to think of gaining the end while neglecting the means.
I am not asserting that our children are included in the number of God’s elect; and will be infallibly saved, for I am not a proponent of the Doctrine of Election. Our children have to make the choice to serve the Lord, when He calls them! And if not, it is not the parents fault. Hence, it is imperative that we strive to be an example to them as we perpetually come before the throne of grace to pray for them with unwavering faith!
My brothers and sisters, Satan had a fourth and last objection, that we see embodied in the following scripture Ex. 10:24-26 “And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you. And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.” Pharaoh would let them go, but without resources to serve the Lord. If he could not keep them in Egypt, he would send them away crippled and broke. Such is the enemy’s last demurrer.
But notice the noble reply of the devoted man of God. “And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt-offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God. Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not a hoof be left behind: for thereof must we take to serve the Lord our God; and” but notice these words as it pertains to anticipation “We know not with what we must serve the Lord until we come thither.”
We must be fully and clearly be centered in God, before we can ever perform what it is required for us to do. It is utterly impossible when we are surrounded by a worldly atmosphere, and governed by a worldly spirit, worldly principles, and worldly objectives, to have any discernment of what the clear directive is, if we do not spend time with Him.
It is only in the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit, can we see and appreciate how we are brought by the death and resurrection of Christ into the “three day’s journey” so that we can all understand what it takes to serve Him; because we belong to Him. Moses, the man of God, stood against all Satan’s objections by a simple but decisive adherence to God’s demand, “Let My People Go, that they hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.”
My brothers and sisters, this principle still remains true today, in spite of all Satan and our Flesh objections. God wants us to be free in Him. Hence we have been chose to maintain our stance against all objections that hinder our freedom to worship Christ in the beauty of Holiness. If the standard be lowered, just a little, the enemy gains ground, and affects the outcome of our testimony! This is why I am determined to reiterate God’s powerful directive until the Lord comes back for His bride, “Let My People Go” Strive to have a “JESUS DAY!”
